*Introducing...Boca 45*

Boca 45 (aka Scott Hendy) zips up the country to join us in November! The Bristol based DJ has seen his work pack dancefloors all over the world on a number of independent labels including Hombre, Illicit, Superslick Stereo Sounds and High Noon Records. He released his debut LP "Pitch Sounds" on Grand Central Records in 2004, working with Profile & McKay among others. The 7" single 'In The City' featuring McKay earned him praise from Mr Scruff, Giles Peterson and Lamacq as well as support from Ninja Tune and Tru Thoughts. Those familiar with his work with Andy Smith as Dynamo Productions were keen to see how Boca 45 has developed his sound and 'In The City' clearly heralded his new style.

Before 'Pitch Sounds' Boca toured Australia, Europe and the US as part of Dynamo Productions, delivering dance floor shaking sets of hip-hop beats cut with classic rock and acappellas scratched over long-forgotten funk breaks. 2006 saw his show develop into 'The Boca 45 Experience', which featured artists from his first album 'Pitch Sounds' and his second album 'Vertigo sounds'

An international collaborator, for his second LP Boca allied himself with Germany's Unique Records who released 'Vertigo Sounds' in the UK, Europe and the US. The album displays his love for the 45's by maintaining a strong hip-hop-funk backbone but heralds a more experienced Boca sound. The album is musically ambitious and indulgent with real instrumentation, Bass from Jim Barr (Portishead) and Strings from Ben Salisbury (David Attenborough's 'Life Of Mammals'!) are seamlessly woven together by Boca's signature cut and paste style with each track containing elements of 60’s and 70‘s rock, soundtracks and soul. Emskee, Kelvin Swaby, Marc Gouvin and Stepchild are among the artists that feature on the album, the latter featuring largely as part of the 'Boca 45 Experience' & on the brilliant Jukebox 45 Mix CDs where Boca selects 45 of his favourtie 7" records and mixes up an absolute storm!

"I'm trying to make beats how they might sound if they were recorded in 1968 in massive studios with real musicians" Boca45

*Introducing...Aim*

Come October, legendary producer & DJ Aim hops across the Pennines to grace West Yorkshire with his uniquely produced sounds at the Hifi Club in Leeds. Since his debut and critically acclaimed 'Cold Water Music' album dropped from the belly of the Grand Central Mothership in the autumn of 1999, Aim has become established as one of the UK's leading underground artists. Come the turn of a new millennium Andy Turner (Aim) had more musical delights up his sleeve to grace the Grand Central recording studios with. These came in the form of 'Hinterland' (2002) and 'Means of Production' (2003) and they did not disappoint!

Fast forward a few years, a few stomping tours with the Aim band and DJ sets, as well as a few Aim mix tapes (most notably his Fabric Live mix - no. 17), and Andy releases his fourth artist album 'Flight 602' in 2006, this time released on his own independent label ATIC Records. ATIC launched in the summer of 2005 and also features the talents of Niko & Gripper. Look out for Aim's freshest releases on the label "Birchwood E.P" & "Puget Sound/Pier 57"

Having collaborated with a whole host of different artists including Diamond D, Kate Rogers, AG and The Souls Of Mischief to name just a few, and remixing an ever growing collection of acclaimed artists such as Ian Brown, St Etienne and The Charlatans, The Hobnob is delighted to welcome one of the finest DJs and producers this country has to offer. Don't miss him!
